pete and woody

We (Pete & Lisa / Shooter’s Shorthairs) decided that as soon as we were married, one of the first things we were going to do was to purchase a dog.  The breed wasn’t decided at that time so the search was on.  We read books, talked to people and did a lot of research to decide what type of dog was right for us; we decided on getting a German Shorthaired Pointer.  Little did we know how important that decision was for us, and it was probably one of the best things we have ever done.

That was back in 1989 and since then we have owned, bred, shown and hunted over some outstanding shorthairs.  Our dogs are not a commodity; they are our companions that give their all….all the time.  When we breed a litter we research pedigrees, performance ability and temperament to come up with the best match possible to produce dogs that will exceed our expectations of an exceptional companion in the home and dependable partners in the field (or woods).  We have high standards for our dogs but by being selective in our choices, we have been successful and consistent in our breeding program.

3 year old male needs a good home!

Cody is a 3 year old GSP and although he is not from our kennel, his pedigree does go back to some of our dogs.  I received a letter from Cody’s owner’s who need help in trying to find him a good home.  They find it very difficult to place him but because of current schedules, they feel it’s not fair to him to have to be locked up all day while they are at work.

Here are some of the things Cody’s owner’s have to say about him.

Cody has a very good tempered, gets along well with other dogs and loves kids.  He has been raised indoors and needs to be placed in home that will continue to keep him as an indoor companion,  He loves to hunt, is very loveable and needs a buddy to follow around and go for car rides with.  He is very active and loves to run yet  he will not run off in an open field.  He is housebroken, he weighs about 70 lbs., and is extremely smart. Knows all basic commands, plays hide and seek and chase balls.  He finally has gotten used to the water and swims great now.  His only downfall is he has separation anxiety and does need to be crated when left alone
